Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), was established in 2016; It is currently headed by Dr. Harsh Goud . The department offers two undergraduate programs, (i) B.Tech in ECE and (ii) B.Tech in ECE with a specialization in Internet of Things (IoT). The department also offers Ph.D. in various streams falling under ECE, of which a total of 32 research scholars are currently enrolled for Ph.D. in the department. The department is dedicated to innovation and research in inter-disciplinary areas. The department's strength lies in the specialization of topics like signal, image and video processing, embedded systems, antenna design, and VLSI design. The department has consultancy activities, provides training, and has decent industry collaboration. The department organized events like STTP, FDP, AICTE-sponsored workshops, expert lectures, and more, alongside regular research. The department is well equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and an advanced curriculum directly applicable to the industries. The department is equipped with proficient faculties who have obtained their Ph. D.s from renowned institutes across India, like IITs and NITs, and from abroad. The departmental faculties have over 7 patents to their name. Apart from this, the faculty has published over 120 papers in journals, 55 in conferences, and over 13 book chapters of international repute. The departmental faculties have bagged various projects with a total funding of over 1.5 Cr.

B.Tech. Electronics & Communication Engineering

  • The Department of Electronics & Communication offers a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Spherical development of students is achieved by exposing them to the latest curriculum that includes flavors of Embedded systems, the Internet of Things, Communication technologies, Control systems, Image and Computer Vision, CMOS design, Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, etc. The department is always in line with the recent trends in the industry by updating the curriculum every semester. The department conducts rigorous lab sessions and has various mini-projects to strengthen the concepts and provide hands-on experience.
  • The core curriculum for this program has some courses in common with CSE, as it was observed that many opportunities lie at the border of these two programs. The program includes advanced experimental labs that facilitate the use of recent technologies, platforms, and high-end computational facilities. The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded occasionally, providing adequate opportunities for students and researchers to learn and innovate. We endeavor to arm the students to be industry-ready with comprehensive practical as well as theoretical knowledge.
  • Currently, more than 480 students are enrolled in this course.

Some of the commonly referred job-oriented areas are highlighted as:

  • Wireless Comm. & Sensor Network
  • Image and Video Processing
  • Biomedical Signal Processing
  • IoT and Artificial Intelligence
  • Computer Vision
  • Antenna Design
  • VLSI Design
  • Embedded System Design

B.Tech. ECE (Internet of Things)

Internet of Things (IoT) applications have enormously increased in the past decade and have a vast scope of usage. IoT generally refers to a network of internet-connected devices that find various applications in engineering and day-to-day life. When objects are interconnected across the world, people or things using those objects can be connected anytime. For example, connected things ease human life, from urban transport to medical devices, home electronics and appliances to cars, heart monitoring implants, and many more.

B.Tech course in ECE (Internet of Things (IoT)) aims to equip students with a strong theoretical foundation, systematic professional knowledge, and strong practical skills in the field of IoT. Through this program, the students develop a thorough knowledge of electronic engineering and computer science and a firm foundation in wireless communication and computer networks. Moreover, deep knowledge of IoT devices, systems, and networks is also included. The students also get well-versed in understanding sensors & instrumentation, chip design, and privacy & security of IoT.

The department currently houses over 165 students.
